About Lessonvo

Lessonvo is a small piece of software for the person who runs music teaching as a business in the United States. It has two halves. The rate card is free and works out, from the figures you type in, what a lesson is worth at the length you teach it, what a term of them comes to, and what is left once the teacher's split, the room and the travel are paid. Lessonvo Pro is the record those lessons become: every pupil with the lessons they are booked into, every lesson marked taught, missed or made up on the day, and every term invoice built from what was actually taught, kept and exportable at any time.

Why this site exists

This site exists because the teaching is the easy part. The studio that loses money loses it to lessons nobody wrote down, make-up lessons promised and never booked, and a rate that was set years ago and never worked out again. The arithmetic behind a rate is a few lines long, the register of what was taught is what the term invoice should be built from, and neither deserves to live in one person's diary.

Who it is for

The owner of a music teaching studio with one to a dozen teachers, or a self-employed piano, guitar, violin, drum or voice teacher, who books lessons in a diary or a shared calendar and bills by term

Not a pupil or a parent, not a school district buying a band program, not a conservatory running admissions, and not anyone here for sheet music, chords or theory

What it does not do

  • No teaching content: no sheet music, no chord charts, no scales and no theory, because this is built for the person running the studio and not the person learning to play
  • No teacher's prices and no studio's fees published here: the rate card works out yours, and what anyone else charges is between them and their parents
  • No ranking of booking or studio software, and no vendor comparisons with somebody else's price in them
  • No introductions: we sell no leads, and a parent looking for a teacher will not find one on this site

What is on this site

1 free tools, each working its figure on the page with no account, and Lessonvo Pro that keeps the record. All tools · Pricing.

What Lessonvo Pro keeps

Upgrading turns the sheet into the register. The rate you settled on becomes the rate on the pupil's record; each lesson in the timetable is marked taught, missed or made up on the day; and the term invoice adds up what was actually taught rather than what was planned. Export is always available, so the register and the invoice history are yours whether or not you stay.
